Miguel Duarte Santos is Of Counsel at SPS Advogados in the areas of Banking, Finance, Capital Markets, Insurance and Pension Funds, working mainly on regulatory matters (prudential and market conduct).
He has contributed to the development of the Insurance Regulation area and the Capital Markets area in the office, maintaining and maximizing the continued development of the business in these areas.
In terms of providing legal assistance in these areas, his work over the last year has included structuring and reviewing internal control and governance elements for life and non-life insurance companies, in the case of the Insurance Law area, and experience with securitization (SSPE) and UCITS and AIFMD assets, in the case of the Capital Markets area.
Miguel regularly teaches on the annual postgraduate courses in insurance, personal data protection and civil liability at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, and has participated in relevant legal journals, publishing mainly on insurance law and regulatory issues.
